SEVERAL MAIL THEFTS REPORTED IN PULLMAN
PULLMAN – The Pullman Police Department has received several reports of checks and/or money being stolen from unlocked residential mailboxes during the past week. In some cases, checks placed in residential mailboxes to be mailed to a third party (like a utility company) have been stolen, altered and cashed.
Pullman Police recommends that residents who have mailed a check or money from an unsecured residential mailbox within the past two weeks contact the intended recipient to verify it was received. We also suggest verifying with your bank that checks posted to your account are for the amounts written. It is recommended to mail checks/money via locking mail receptacles or directly at the post office rather than an unsecure mail receptacle.
If you believe that you are a victim of this type of crime, please report it to the Pullman Police Department at (509) 332-2521. Detectives are actively investigating these crimes.
